Kashmar Rug - 310x200 cm

The city of Kashmar is located in the Khorasan province southwest of the city of Mashad in Eastern Iran. It has a very rich history and its former name is Torshiz. Exceptionally high quality carpets have been woven here for centuries. The carpets are woven with soft, thin wool in beautiful shades of blue with a cream-colored beige and ivory beige as a contrasting color. Newer carpets also use a soft shade of green, red and brown. Characteristic of these Kashmar carpets are the large dimensions and the unique patterns that resemble paintings of trees, flowers and domes of Mosques. It also depicts scenes representing important historical events (such as major incidents in Persian history, a historical person or the story of a revered Persian king). In Kashmar, detailed, elegant masterpieces are woven with color harmony and complex patterns to express the Persian passion and love for art and beauty. Kashmar carpets and rugs are durable and they become more beautiful with age.
