Loribaft Carpets are Simple Weave

The name Loribaft was coined from two words: Luri and Baft. Luri is the tribe of the women who are believed to have knotted these magnificent carpets. While Baft is a Luri word which means weave.

And that simply sums up everything about the carpets. Loribaft carpets are simple weaves highly lauded for their primitive patterns carefully wrapped with rustic charm.

Generally, people refer to the Loribaft carpets as rough carpets as they are designed with rough edges. You could see that this is a simple weave yet it exudes a rustic charm that only comes with this nomadic carpet. Of course, this makes it stand out from other carpets weaved by the nomads.

Loribaft Carpets are Made Of 100% Sheep Wool, Not Cotton.

The nomads are popular for making sophisticated designs from simple everyday materials. This trend didn’t start today. The nomads have always been know for using their environment as inspiration. Fortunately, this unique attribute is also reflected in the Loribaft carpets.

Drawing inspiration from things around them, the carpets were made of quality materials to serve for generations. Not only did they give careful consideration to the colors and patterns, but they also made sure these carpets are made of 100% sheep wool. Including the warp too. The coloration observed in these carpets has been proven to come from natural dies.

Note: Loribaft carpets produced in Pakistan and India use cotton as the warp, instead of wool.
